Dello Mano – The Australian Brownie Pioneers
Way back in 2006 when we started Dello Mano, brownies were just dusty little things on the bottom shelf of a couple of stores. Cup cakes were all the rage and yet Bien and I felt so strongly about Brownies, that we decided to pioneer brownies in Australia. We created hand made chocolate brownies and so called our company Dello Mano (corrupted Italian for hand made) . Today brownies are starting to pop up across magazines, cafes and restaurants and now they come in so many varieties. They are sprinkled with chips or nuts, swirled with cream cheese, spiked with coffee or espresso boost, or made plain and simple using different types of chocolates. We are proud to say Dello Mano is the original Classic Luxury Brownie.

We’ve talked before about tempering chocolates so, a process necessary in order to achieve a smooth, glossy finish for your chocolates and chocolate dips. But even when chocolate is in temper, blooming can still occur. Bloom is that greyish or white coating on the chocolate that usually occurs when chocolate is not stored correctly.
Kitchen accidents happen now and again. But the results aren’t always burnt food or inedible concoctions. Take a look at the humble beginnings of 5 food items now enjoyed worldwide:
1. Chocolate Chip Cookies
The delicious cookie recipe came about in 1930, when Ruth Wakefield, ownder of Toll House Inn substituted baking chocolate with smashed pieces of semi-sweet chocolate bar for the cookies she was baking. The result was a scrumptious batch of cookies with chunks of chocolate that soon became a hit in the Whitman, Massachusetts area.

2. Popsicle
Did you know that this frozen treat has been around since 1905? As the story goes, Frank Epperson was making a soda water mixture. He accidentally left the mixture on the back porch overnight, with the stirring stick still in the container. Epperson was amazed to find the frozen soda water on a stick that he shared his creation with his friends. These days, popsicles come in so many formulations. But perhaps the best thing about it is that we all can make them at home!
